Based on thin Force Sensors technologies to detect or quantify load variations.
The Load Cells are covered by a rigid surface to spread the force applied.
Load cells can be used for a wider range of gesture such as pushing with hands or stepping and jumping over it with the whole body.
Various sizes and shapes can be designed depending on the load variations to be detected.
Load Cells can be used as sensors input for large surface controls, immersive environments or else for haptic systems, such as for this university project with CIM McGill Montreal, where paper sensors where built and tested as inputs for their force-feedback interactive floor designed by Yon Visell, with Prof J Cooperstock.
